ABOUT ME

Behind the Camera

I’m Monika Garland, wedding videographer based in Forest, Virginia. A Canadian by birth and American by choice, I’m a hockey lover (good thing too since I’m married to a college hockey coach), miniature schnauzer owner, and storyteller at heart. I serve couples throughout Central Virginia from Washington, D.C. to North Carolina—and happily travel nationwide. My work has taken me to weddings across Florida, Wisconsin, New Hampshire, Oregon, and Massachusetts.

My passion for wedding videography began while planning my own wedding, where I fell in love with the logistics and storytelling behind such a meaningful day. I studied shooting, editing, and sound design in college and went on to work in live television covering sports, news, and entertainment. That background allows me to bring a calm, professional, and creative approach to every wedding day; combining producing, shooting, and editing into one seamless experience.

I understand both the excitement and the overwhelm that come with wedding planning, and my goal is to make hiring a videographer the easiest decision you make. Let’s grab a coffee or hop on a quick call so I can learn more about you, your plans, and how I can document your day while cheering you on every step of the way.

WHY HIRE A VIDEOGRAPHER?

It’s often said that one of the biggest regrets couples have is not investing in wedding videography.

If you’ve ever watched your parents’ wedding film, it may be filled with grainy footage, muffled audio, and long, unedited clips, and yet it’s still incredibly meaningful. Despite its imperfections, you’re able to witness their joy, love, and connection in a way photos alone can’t capture.

I believe wedding videography is a gift, not only to you and your spouse, but also to loved ones who are unable to attend and to future generations who will one day want to experience your story. Today, wedding films go beyond simply documenting the day; they thoughtfully preserve the emotion, movement, and memories that define your celebration and the people you hold closest.
